March Reading List

3.02.2016

After racking up a large fine of overdue books at the library, I haven't read much these last two months. Also, my iPad died a few months back too. I still have my eye on a few books for spring. Can you tell I'm a bachelor fan? I know, it is so cheesy, but I've been sucked in and find it all so fascinating. I would also like to read the Marriage of Opposites. So, hopefully, will find a way to lay my hands on some of these soon. Reading is kind of part of my zen.

Fall Reading List

10.06.2014

This summer, I was busy chasing Wells on the beach and unpacking our househouse goods. I wasn't able to read as much as I would have liked. I did read "Dad is Fat" and Robin Jones Gunn's newest book (an author I've grown up on). I have several books on my reading list for this fall and can't wait to get to them. Anyone read any of the above? Or would like to add to my reading list..

Good reads

4.25.2013

Pregnant or not I've always been interested in natural birth. My mom gave birth to my siblings and me at home. I always took pride in this. I developed my views over the years on what type of birth I wanted. Natural. Crunchy. Home. Water.  Kind of birth. Ted has been great adapting to a more natural birth but still shy's away from home birth for now. He is even willing to jump in the birth pool. After looking over costs, we determined to go with the birth center instead of a home birth. My mother-in-law began to breath again. At the birth center everything is covered. We get a suite that acts as a personal apartment. It is great. But, I still want a home birth. So, we discuss. Sticking to our plan for the time being.

After years of thought going into the birth culture in America and what kind of birth I'd prefer, I have my opinions nailed down. What I haven't nailed down is learning all that I can about breast feeding. It seems so natural yet I find that most new moms don't anticipate the hard work that goes into it. So, I've ventured into educating myself. I'm currently reading: The womanly art of breastfeeding. And plan to read Ina May's guide to breastfeeding next. If you have advice on breastfeeding or information you'd like to share. Go ahead. I'm all ears.

cookbook's

1.18.2012
To me a book on the shelf or hidden around the house is a piece of art. Whenever I stop at friends house for the first time (or back in my babysitting days), I will scan their book collection. I think it really tells something about the person. Here are three cook books I'm currently reading, cooking, and being inspired by.

VOLT ink.
Ted and I are equally obsessed with watching Top Chef.
I've been a religious viewer since Season 2. My favorite season
was with Bryan and Michael Voltaggio. When they came out
with a cookbook, I knew I had to get it. The book is full
of amazing technique and inspiration.

My Family Table
John Besh is another Chef favorite of mine.
Maybe because he is from New Orleans.
His other cookbook I've enjoyed is 'My New Orleans'.

 The Family Meal
This book is one I recommend to everyone.
It's a perfect gift to a bride-to-be.
It is easy to read and follow. It had delicious recipes
full of pictures and grocery lists.

Read List:

8.22.2011

These two books are my to-read list for fall. I've been a wanna-be-runner for years and I'm hoping to gain insight and a rekindled or newly found love for running. I've heard one to many people rave over Born to Run. And, secondly 'Secrets to a Healthier Metabolism' has sparked my interest. From what I've heard, it really focus on eating non-processed foods. But, that's all I really know of it as of yet. But I will be coming back to this to review both when I'm finished. (But, please bear with me...it may take awhile for me to read or find at my local library)
