Family Christmas Traditions

11.30.2010

On sunday afternoon, I sat around with some people and we talked all about our family traditions. Everyone in the room happened to be married and we continued to talk about new traditions we are making with our little families. This is our second Christmas as a married couple and our first not living in close proximity of family. For the last several years, Ted and I have flip-flopped holidays with our sides of the family. This year we are staying home and celebrating solo.

Ted and I have started a few things that I'd love to become the 'norm' for our little family.

  • Decorating the house and tree as a family with drinks and cheery holiday music.
  • Making homemade presents for one another.
  • Giving presents to needy families.
  • Reading through the Christmas story, advent, or other literature.
  • Christmas movies with warm drinks and sweet treats.
  • A big Christmas breakfast.
  • Sending out Christmas cards or Christmas Cd's.

Hoping to keep adding to the list of traditions as the years pass and our family grows.

What are your family traditions?

ALSO, love this giveaway at 6th Street. Minted has a great selection of Christmas cards.
