Bronze Years

4.18.2012
last week i left ted at home & went to kentucky for a visit with my little brother. it was amazing & filling. prior to my arrival, my brother shared his google calendar stacked with plans for our week together. each time block was filled with information about each activity & accompanied with links to view. i knew from then even though ted wasn't able to join, this would be a great trip.

little brother & i share many interests. we tend to yap about them during our weekly texts, phone calls, and skype dates. i arrived in kentucky & we went straight for a fresh cut. i inspired my brother to cut his shaggy hair off. it was like transforming a teenager into adulthood. it felt good (for me, at least). while we were chatting with the stylist, my heart sank as she shaved off inches of his hair. is he going to hate me? after a few looks in the mirror, i think he liked.

our activities for the week were extensive & many times weren't photographed. below are the ones i actually snapped whether it be from iphone or camera. wheel throwing classes, keeneland, baked brie, dinner party with friends, & college dance party.. we did it all. it felt like college. my bedtime was out of control & living with college boys is semi-disgusting. all in all, it was fantastic.

we cooked dinner for all his close friends & their girlfriends. menu included: gnocchi, brussel sprout leaves, sage, & sunchoke puree. and, short ribs over polenta with wild mushrooms, roast red pepper, arugala, & a poached egg. it was delish & always great cooking along with my brother. on the flip side, cooking in a college boys kitchen was a wee bit frustrating (they have no pans, utensils, and normal cookware.)

i've hit the ground running upon my return. literally. we ate, ate, & ate the whole time. i'm glad to pile my plate with veges this week and push harder on my make up miles. enjoy the pictures.

What a fun weekend! Did you enjoy Keeneland? It looks like there was a great crowd! I look forward to the races every April :)
